Biography
Michael P. Koranicki, Jr. was born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 1, 1952 to Michael P. Koranicki, Sr. and Theresa. Koranicki fought in the Youngstown Golden Gloves in high school and while attending Youngstown St.University turned professional.
Koranicki's early career took place in Miami Beach, Florida in fights promoted by Chris Dundee. Koranicki racked up an impressive knockout streak and on July 30, 1974 he defeated former Florida Heavyweight Champion Jimmy Summerville.
Koranicki later traveled to South Africa where he married his second wife Suzette. His only child, his daughter Theresa was born in Johannesburg. After reaching #10 in the World Heavyweight Ratings, Koranicki's career suddenly started to take a downward turn. In 1985, illness forced him to return to the United States and his boxing career ended.
After years of bad health, Koranicki died at age 60 on May 14, 2012.
