Name: Nick Randich
Alias: Nick Marchina
Hometown: Aberdeen, Washington, USA
Pro Boxer: Record

Nick Randich was born Nick Marchina in Austria. His exact date of birth is unknown, but he was reported by the October 27, 1923 Grays Harbor Post to be 30-years-old at the time, having started his professional career when he was about 15. In December 1922, Marchina returned to the Aberdeen area after many years abroad. He had left Aberdeen circa 1914 to visit his former home in Austria. His timing was poor, because World War I broke out. He was drafted by the Austrian Army and sent to battle the Russians. He was captured and spent three years as a prisoner-of-war. When he was eventually released, he went back to Austria in 1917. This time the Army sent him to fight on the Halian Front. After the war ended, he traveled some more before returning to the Pacific Northwest. His last bout had been in the spring of 1914 against Dick Ultican. He had also fought Cliff Summerlin around that time. Source: Tacome News Tribune, Dec. 26, 1922.

He is to be distinquished from the boxing match-maker of the same name, who was based out of Aberdeen, WA, USA, during the 1920s, conducting shows for Aberdeen's Fraternal Order of Eagles club. (See the October 20, 1923 Grays Harbor Post for confirmation that there were two Nick Randichs.)
