- "Williams won the fourth, fifth and sixth after a slow beginning but fell back when Nino moved ahead in the next round. The tenth was a honey with Williams turning Valdes with a hard right and winding up a slugging session as the crowd cheered them on."
- Valdes dropped Williams in the seventh for an eight-count with a short right.
- This was Williams's first fight in 19 months.
- Valdes' management announced the next day that he was signed to fight German heavyweight champion Heinz Neuhaus in Germany on November 15th. And the bout came to pass.
