  • Airich, a 7.75/1 betting underdog, was coming off likely his most notable win; a ninth-round stoppage over Ondrej Pala (30-2) to defend his IBF Intercontinental Heavyweight Title and claim Pala's WBO European Heavyweight Title. [1]
  • At 267.5 lbs, Solis was 21 pounds heavier than in his previous bout and at his heaviest since March of 2010.

Bout Summary

In what was a very measured, often slow bout, Solis worked almost exclusively with a stiff jab and a right hand over Airich's jab to pile up rounds. Solis seemed content at simply getting in ring work following his extensive layoff and never really pressed the action. Airich often threw more than Solis, but most of his punches landed on his opponent's gloves. Round 3 was a strong one for Solis as he caught Airich with a good left hand and followed it with a right that put Airich back into a corner. A small cut opened under Airich's right eye in the third. By Round 9, Airich had some swelling and bruising under his right eye. Solis had slight swelling under his right eye by the end of the fight.
