- Bronze Medalist in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, boxing in the light flyweight class, becoming Thailand's first Olympic Medal winner.
- In 2001, after his boxing career ended, he turned his attention to politics, winning a seat in Parliament for the opposition Democratic party, representing his home town of Prachub Kirikhan, 280 kilometers south of Bangkok. But he was forced to retire through illness after only a year.
- Died from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a degenerative nerve and brain disease, diagnosed in 2002.
