Rod Murphy was an American referee in the state of Washington who worked primarily in Bremerton and Seattle during the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. His most notable officiating assignment, was on November 1, 1938 when he worked the 1st meeting of Solly Krieger and Al Hostak at the Seattle Civic Auditorium, for the NBA Middleweight title, which was won by Krieger.
Murphy was a longtime professional baseball player, at the minor league level from 1911 to 1930, compiling 2,197 hits and a .301 batting average over 16 seasons, playing primarily as an infielder.
