Died: 1931-06-10 (Age:20)
Pro Boxer: Record

Stanley Sargent had been boxing for only two years, and had not really taken a large amount of punishment in his career as a preliminary boxer. On June 9, 1931, he made his first main event appearance against the faded San Francisco Middleweight Pete Meyers.

In the 5th round of their scheduled six-rounder, Sargent was hit by a smashing right hand that floored him for the count. As he went down, his head hit the floor hard. Sargent never regained consciousness, and he died 14 hours later at Good Samaritan Hospital of an internal brain hemorrhage and a suspected fracture of the skull. The Portland Boxing Commission helped to pay his funeral costs. He was buried in his hometown of Vancouver, WA.
