Talk:Jack White
This is absolutely no reason to belittle Jack White by calling him a club fighter. The first half of his career (1907 - 1914)is quite respectible, including three (3) draws against Johnny Kilrain. I don't believe Kilrain deliberately stood down out of regard for brother Charley. White beat some decent fighters, including Biz Mackey, Gene McGovern, Patsy Kline, Frankie Conley, Owen Moran and Frankie Russell, and drew Johnny Griffiths, and lost to the likes of Abe Attell, Johnny Kilrain, Rocky Kansas and Johnny Dundee, pretty solid competition for a mere club fighter.
Towards the end of his career, when he fights out west the newspapers hype him up as the brother of Charley White. After his performances though, it was apparent he couldn't fight that well though, and was just using his brothers name, which is what the newspapers state. Perhaps I should qualify the statement, and state that this was only at the end of his career. But I think the evidence would indicate that he used his brothers name at the end of his career. Of course this is no different than a lot of other fighters who used old press clippings of their glory days, when they were hanging on during the backside of their careers.--Matt Tegen 10:10, 11 August 2006 (CDT)
