Ted Frenchie was the elder brother of the 1924 Olympic Gold Medalist and former Flyweight World Champion Fidel LaBarba. Like his younger brother would also later do, Frenchie became involved in the motion picture business after his boxing career ended. His exact date of death unknown.

He is to be distinguished from the Los Angeles-area African-American middleweight boxer who fought under the same name during the 1920s, and the featherweight Ted Frenchie of the 1930s.
