Notes
- Solis entered as the # 5 light flyweight contender in the world according to The Ring Magazine. Oliva was unranked by the same publication and was unranked by any of the 4 main sanctioning bodies in the light flyweight division, but entered ranked as the WBO # 7, IBF # 12, WBA # 12, and WBC # 19 minimumweight contender.
- Solis has a record of 4-1 (3 KOs) against Filipino fighters coming into the fight (which includes Filipino-American Brian Viloria). He is coming off a split decision win against Luis Alberto Lazarte in their rematch four months ago to win the title.
- This would be Oliva's first fight outside his native Philippines and only his second fight against a non-Filipino opponent. He is coming off a unanimous decision win against then-undefeated, fellow Filipino Fernando Ocon more than three months ago.
