Team Haye do not need the help of Golden boy to make inroads with HBO mate. If HBO want to showcase your talents and as far as Team Haye are concerned if they are offered enough money they will not need Golden Boy - you can absolutely bet that Adam Booth will have already spoken to HBO.
Nah mate what Team Haye need Golden Boy for is the promotional side of things - lets face GBP have got the promotional aspects spot on - they pump in a lot of dosh for the advertising side of things - they look after their fighters bloody well and are very good at putting on a show in that no bit of detail is too small and Team Haye could learn a lot from that.
Personally if you were to push me I think it is a tadge too early for the emergence of Haymaker promotions as at this stage they would be too reliant on other promotional companies allowing their boxers to box on their shows - they would need to make a decent splash that they are now in the promotional business and then the signings would have to follow - the reason why I think a promotional licence has been taken out is to have guaranteed income from the JOINT promotional rights - its not just about a fighters purse - Team Haye know there is a lot of money to be made from Sponsorship, TV revenue, Ticket Sales and also merchandise.
my only reservation about Haye-HBO was the whole cruiserweight factor i.e. even though he's moving up to heavyweight, HBO don't really seem bothered about things like crusierweight pedigree...Last cruiserweight fighters I can recall on HBO are Toney and Jirov. So I don't know where he stands with that. Cruisers are regularly featured on Showtime but only in hard, hard fights for not great money.
Obviously with Haye's punch power and media friendly personality he can get on, and with HBO featuring crap like Wlad-Ibrag, the #1 network will splash out on heavyweights that matter.
The only worry with signing with someone like HBO is you can wind up stuck with them, subject to their schedule, which proved detrimental to Hatton who had been inactive going into Collazo etc. I suppose they need to be tough negotiators, do Booth and Haye.
I can definitely see him with his own company if he wins some heavyweight belts, with HBO perhaps carrying him a bit. In the meantime - yes, I agree Spud - GBP can show Haye a thing or two as they are pretty good innovators with things like "World Cups", "24/7's", "Uk v Mexico tie-ins" etc. Good at building stars (young guns like Mares and Linares) and personalities (hatton and Mayweather). Not to mention, links with Ring mag, basically owning the Ring mag title, meaning he'll never be short of publicity, and get moved towards world titles that matter.
Probably it won't be too hard to get a guy like Rahman in the ring either if he signs up with GBP.
