I don't see any problem in the unified cruiserweight champion mouthing off that the heavyweight are shite when they are. Gets him column inches and adds more hype to his heavyweight debut (proper heavyweight debut that is)

He's moved up from fighting at leisurecenters, fair play to his mouthy confidence now everyone is listening to him
I wasn't a boxing fan till 2004 so I didn't see much of Joe's early stuff, he's never sounded as arragont as people made out In what I've read anyway, It was just because he was a WBO champ he got scolded for It. His humility was way better than Hatton's.

They maybe weaker but Haye's only proven his exellence at Cruiserweight not Heavyweight thats the problem, he might turn out to not be so good at heavyweight yet.

He's taking so long to fight at Heavyweight as well when he claims he Is a natural Hw.

I think Haye's going to be an excellent heavyweight. He's so powerful and has the frame for it and the guys at the top at the moment aren't exactly in the Holyfield/Bowe/Lewis or even Tyson after prison league are they?

Watch him in gym prior to one of his European title fights on Youtube weighing around 16 stone and tell me he's not a legit heavy. The guy's in fabulous shape.

And when Haye talks about beating the likes of Klit or Peter, at least he's articulate. He says what he feels but it's not smack talk or just utter bullshit like that jabbermouthed knob-end Toney (God bless you James - love you really;).

It is an absolute FACT - and lets put this diplomatically Team Haye are very hard negoitiators:

Adam Booth will have no problems in me stating he drives a hard bargain and can be perceived as being difficult to deal with - he wants to know everything and will ask

"Why"
"Whats this"
"Can I have look at that"

etc etc etc

He demands absolutely top dollar for his fighter - and I find it difficult to know how a promoter can make big money out of Haye certainly up until now!!!

I find it utterly curious who will give ground in the negoitiations - will it be Team Haye or will it be Golden Boy.

I did have a little smile when watching the fight the other night to see Haye and Booth as guests of the promoter sat in promoters row sat next to Richard Shaefer an honour bestowed only on the chosen few.

Whilst I know there are a number of offers on the table - I will be very surprised if Haye relents to anyone - Team Haye will want things their way - thus even if now is a little too soon you can bet your house, Wife, kids and mistress on it that Haymaker Promotions will come to fruition at some stage.

Another one - I will be stunned if Haye suddenly f*cks off to the states now - he has just filled the O2 arena and won in style - what he needs to do capitlise on his popularity before f*cking off elsewhere - he can still make big money fighting in the UK whilst increasing his much needed support prior to the really massive fights he will no doubt have at Heavyweight!!!

Haye could fill stadiums in the UK and make millions out of sponsorship, media deals, memorabilia, ticket sales etc etc - which is why I simply cannot see Mr Booth giving up the chance to capitilise on the promotional side of things with Haymaker promotions.

There is one thing that makes me contradict things - Hatton is with Golden Boy - Haye wants to increase his poularity as well as make a splash on the heavyweight scene - on the undercard of the Hatton/Malanaggi fight in New York would be good - then on the undercard of the Hatton/Mayweather 2 fight in the UK may prove tempting - but my thinking was Team Hatton like the lion share of those sort of events!!!

Interesting - very interesting.

If Joe was In prison while Hopkins was,

Calzaghe was proven to be an atg to be mouthy I guess though while Haye's only just starting his career at Heavyweight.

Bending Hopkins over In youtube form. :TU:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h4KsWV2gtI

Two unifications with 21 defenses being the 1st undisputed champ In the 12stone division ain't that bad though and then winning against the LHW who was the linear I guess even though I don't see the ring belt as a title more an award.

And putting In great performances In his best fights and names except Hopkins since that was ugly says he Is an Atg.

Heavy's always get to leapfrog the smaller divisions If the HW's become all time greats though, thats why Lewis Is considered more of an atg and I don't disagree but talent wise he's better.

Haye's just reminding me of guys like Audley and Froch with the mouth except due to cleaning out at cruiser he's done more than both.

He'll go for the heavies but he needs to win first, I don't favour him over guys like Chagaev, Ruiz, Valuev and Klitschko due to size and styles. But I favour Haye over the likes of Sam Peter, Virchis etc

Haye needs to lean some Inside fighting for some of those fighters too and not drop his hands as he throws the right as he's open to a left hook.

Don't know if that is true. Joe only unified his titles last year and is only just embarking on a true top flight career. Haye has a big win over Mormeck, Joe over Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. Haye is capable of catching up.

Bear in mind Mx that should Haye unify at heavy and have a decent career up there he will be in with a really good shout of leapfrogging Joe at some point, big 'If' I know but early indications are that the guy is going to go for it.
As has been mentioned on one of the other Calzaghe threads, JC has only become an elite fighter in the last couple of years. He's only recently taken the risks necessary to call himself an elite fighter. Haye has already gained the scalps of Mormeck and Maccarinelli. Is there really that much between those two and Lacy and Kessler? It wasn't until Calzaghe was 36 years of age and had 40-odd fights that he summoned the strength to take those risks. Haye, at 27, did similar in barely 20 fights.

Haye can conceivably leap-frog Calzaghe in the all-time stakes if he does the business at heavyweight.

How was Booth able to drive a hard bargin before Haye was even a euro and world champ though? Was It the fact he won an amatuer world champ medal?

Spud I know what you are saying about the millions on offer from Haye staying and fighting in the UK. But he can start off earning a little less now but with larger potential returns if he goes off to America straight away.
Goldenboy are smart promoters and won't waste his talent.
Personally I would get started off with a HBO boxing after dark bout with say Junior Witter on the undercard as well. He has made a little bit of a name for himself on Showtime and if Witter and Quintana can get bouts, then Haye should.
There's not much point wasting time with him. He's clearly very talented after winning 3 of the 4 crusierweight titles. Throw him in there with someone like Sultan Ibragimov straight away. His speed would give Sultan problems all night and would put him in the top 10 of the Heavyweights. He would then be really ready to start taking on the likes of Klitschko or Peter.

Very easy question - TV were massively interested with Haye - with him went a TV deal - with a TV deal went shows for the undercard fighters - in addition with a TV contract had more fighters knocking on the door.

Its no secret and there is no shame in it at all - its how boxing works - with a reasonably big name fighter comes TV dates etc etc

I thought my answer was an obvious one.

Even Lennox with many people on here questioning whether he was a brit or not - steadily came up the heavyweight ranks within Britain and at the same increased the hype throughout the media and also much needed support.

It is only recently that Haye has increased his popularity - before he would sell less tickets than Junior Witter!!!

If Haye goes to the states he would be completely reliant on the media for spreading the word - if he fillls stadiums in the UK the public will spread the word and of course with the help of the media - Haye could be as big as Lennox.

I honestly believe it would be a great BIG mistake for Haye to turn his back on the UK at this stage.

There is of course a trail of thought with Golden Boys joint backing Haymaker Promotions could still come to fruition - I would be stunned if Team Haye entered into anything more than a 3 fight deal if at all - it would also not surprise me if they insisted on joint promotional rights - or at the very least all of the UK rights - something like Sky showing his fights he would get 1.5 million per fight minimum!!!

With the help of GBP he can help lure in some well ranked/decent names to get exposure and make him a serious contender.

I doubt he ignores the UK because he's said he wants to fight in a big arena in November vs a ranked heavyweight!

He can definitely use GBP to make inroads with HBO as well. And HBO are known to help promote big name fighters, especially when said fighter sets up his own promotional company ala Roy Jones, Lennox, Naz to cut out the middlemen.

Autobarn,

Team Haye do not need the help of Golden boy to make inroads with HBO mate. If HBO want to showcase your talents and as far as Team Haye are concerned if they are offered enough money they will not need Golden Boy - you can absolutely bet that Adam Booth will have already spoken to HBO.

Nah mate what Team Haye need Golden Boy for is the promotional side of things - lets face GBP have got the promotional aspects spot on - they pump in a lot of dosh for the advertising side of things - they look after their fighters bloody well and are very good at putting on a show in that no bit of detail is too small and Team Haye could learn a lot from that.

Personally if you were to push me I think it is a tadge too early for the emergence of Haymaker promotions as at this stage they would be too reliant on other promotional companies allowing their boxers to box on their shows - they would need to make a decent splash that they are now in the promotional business and then the signings would have to follow - the reason why I think a promotional licence has been taken out is to have guaranteed income from the JOINT promotional rights - its not just about a fighters purse - Team Haye know there is a lot of money to be made from Sponsorship, TV revenue, Ticket Sales and also merchandise.

I'm not at all surprised to be reading this.

Maybe this has been pointed out already? Haye was sitting next to Richard Schaeffer (or however you spell it), De La Hoya's buisness brain during the Audley fight on Saturday night. I also seen him interviewed ringside by Setanta during the build up to the Calzaghe fight and Schaeffer was seen standing close by in the background.

my only reservation about Haye-HBO was the whole cruiserweight factor i.e. even though he's moving up to heavyweight, HBO don't really seem bothered about things like crusierweight pedigree...Last cruiserweight fighters I can recall on HBO are Toney and Jirov. So I don't know where he stands with that. Cruisers are regularly featured on Showtime but only in hard, hard fights for not great money.

Obviously with Haye's punch power and media friendly personality he can get on, and with HBO featuring crap like Wlad-Ibrag, the #1 network will splash out on heavyweights that matter.

The only worry with signing with someone like HBO is you can wind up stuck with them, subject to their schedule, which proved detrimental to Hatton who had been inactive going into Collazo etc. I suppose they need to be tough negotiators, do Booth and Haye.

I can definitely see him with his own company if he wins some heavyweight belts, with HBO perhaps carrying him a bit. In the meantime - yes, I agree Spud - GBP can show Haye a thing or two as they are pretty good innovators with things like "World Cups", "24/7's", "Uk v Mexico tie-ins" etc. Good at building stars (young guns like Mares and Linares) and personalities (hatton and Mayweather). Not to mention, links with Ring mag, basically owning the Ring mag title, meaning he'll never be short of publicity, and get moved towards world titles that matter.

Probably it won't be too hard to get a guy like Rahman in the ring either if he signs up with GBP.

Calzaghe at the same age as Enzo Macc is today had not taken as much risk as his stable mate has.

Haye has every single chance of surpassing Calzaghe's legacy, mainly because he has already sought out and beat the very best Cruiserweight had to offer.
It took Joe nigh on TEN Years to do the same at Super Mid.

Haye could surpass everything Calzaghe ever achieves in his career in under 30 fights.(example- Rahman, Ruiz, Chagaev, Wlad, Povetkin, Valuev for the novelty and David v Goliath angle and finish up with a unification against Solis and there you have Haye with 29 fights, and providing he wins all these bouts, not very likely but not exactly impossible, and he will have a better record and legacy than Calzaghe)

To be fair, every sport has it's over sensitive fans.

Many football fans think Bobby Moore is the greatest defender the world has ever seen, despite him not being able to lace Paulo Maldini's boots, and he still plays!

Still I find it hard to believe you haven't seen Ali/Foreman or Ali/Frazier Max.

This muppet has no right, NONE whatsoever, to claim he knows the sport of boxing if he hasn't even seen Ali fight. A simple effing youtube clip, and he hasn't even bothered.
