at the end of the day he's a old man now he'll be 59 on the 19th with bill he dont take sh"t off no one and if your in a pub and bum licking him he'll just take the piss with you, you see it all the time with all you young fellas in a pub right up his arsesimon fox wrote:Is he that hard though Johnny or is it that people can't be doing with the grief. There's not being a push over and there's evil. I'd love to come down to York Hall to watch the boxing; hopefully on your 100th bout but if some heavy lunatic comes in and scares everyone to death through what he might do I'd not be impressed; to be honest Johnny I'd just think they were a bully and there's pubs up in Doncaster where the mood changes and everyone leaves when a nutter comes in.
Everyone is pleased when they get done in; I know a man who is supposedly popular and has battered loads through the years; he was chinned at Christmas and not one person has been able to tell the story without grinning.

Re: Bill the bomb
Look , by saying the bomb is a legend. I mean everybody from east London knows of him. The fact he isn't a nice bloke means I would never brown nose the bloke. In fact I know some capers he's got up to are plain wrong. I'm not a young pleb who thinks its cool to be like that. I've two kids & try to lead by example. I respect gentlemen more. Don't think the bomb could be called a gentleman
Re: Bill the bomb
You put it well there Johnny; there's a well known hard case in South Yorkshire who has been known to settle drug related debts by rape (both man and woman). He is also a man no one will tangle with, as there is only one possible outcome. By no stretch could he be seen as someone to look up to or emulate.

Re: Bill the bomb
Simon, that bloke from Yorkshire your talking about aint Paul Sykes (boxer in the 70s), from Wakefeild is he? Good documentarie about him on youtube. Boxed John L Gardner. Sykes was a raving lunatic up north. In and out prisons' all his life. Was going to fight Lenny McLean at one stage. He ended up an alcoholic tramp. He died 3 or 4 years ago from liver cirrhosis. He apparently back in the day...used to prey on, or "rape" other men in Wakefeild nick. Alot of people say he was a real "character" who was very funny; others say a psychopathic bully esp when steaming. Both his sons are now doing life for two separate murders.

No, Eddy; it's a man in Doncaster; these weren't prison rapes. It was done to people (men and women) who couldn't pay their drug debts.

I doubt this Bill bloke would be to pleased with you gossiping about him on a public boxing forum ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
Re: Bill the bomb
I don't think it matters really Tommy my old son, his name's already been mentioned in a lot of published books and local newspaper articles already. Anyway, ...he's an ex-pro fighter; this is a boxing forum.

paul sykes could really dig. his old man was a screw & used to batter him & produced an insecure bully.john L gardiner was a tough driven pro who could climb off the floor & win regardless of being skillfully limited & showed sykes who the daddy was.

Re: Bill the bomb
Very intresting hurlock. From what I'm told by people, I always thought that he was hard man that went turbo nut-nut at the drop of a hat. So it seems there's more to it than that. It would be good if Boxing News did an article/interview with him. I'm sure many (esp east London area) would be interested.

Where is his pro record?
Re: Bill the bomb
Boxrec Billy Williams Barking. I think he was 14-1 (7) Started his career in States. He avenged his defeat against Johny Wall, who if you go on to youtube and type, Lenny McLean Sparring; Wall is the man sparring "the Guv'nur."

Tell you what hurlock. We ain't agreed on everything but that's pretty much bill in a nutshell. Don't think he'd start on ya for the sake of it, upset him & Youl get a dig. No questions . I wouldn't say the man's a bully. Just someone you'd be better not to start on. If you don't put him away you better be well prepped for a massive comeback

Re: Bill the bomb
I think its a mix of a tew things. Everyone had a story . Some quite heavy. Some just don't know if their at risk being in the same pub. Some people elaborate on the tails of the bomb , suppose people don't know what to expect & that leads to fear. All you have to do is look at bill to see a bit of a nutcase. People know him just thru stories and some frighten people
