Foreman boxed at London Arena, and Barrera beat Paul Lloyd at Royal Albert Hall. To my knowledge, neither Foreman or Barrera boxed at York Hall.

i was there when tapia fought as a special attraction on a allegedly undercard i think, his ring entrance was all glitz and glamour. danny romero was ringside. i managed to get tapias autograph, what a character. Ive seen a few big stars fight there over the years.

Me too! He got quite a reception.... I was a bit gutted he finished him in the first though.... I wanted to savour his skills. RIP Johnny Tapiarhino222 wrote:i was there when tapia fought as a special attraction on a allegedly undercard i think, his ring entrance was all glitz and glamour. danny romero was ringside. i managed to get tapias autograph, what a character. Yeah that was a bit strange seeing James Toney boxing at the York Hall as he was at one time p4p in the world before Roy Jones Jr beat him. Be like watching Madonna doing a gig in Romford!

Haye fought Fragomeni there for the European title and Froch fight Magee there. It's very rare nowadays that such high profile fights take place in a venue holding less than 1000 people.

Haye also fought Lasse Johansen for EBU title and Tony Booth for pro debut.SteveDow wrote:Haye fought Fragomeni there for the European title and Froch fight Magee there. It's very rare nowadays that such high profile fights take place in a venue holding less than 1000 people.
Johansen was tough but outgunned. Booth never at the races

Re: Who are the most famous boxers to fight at bethnal green?
Curiously neither east end favourite Terry Spinks or Billy Walker ever boxed at York hall. Maybe they were too big from their pro debut as they were well known before turning pro?
Re: Who are the most famous boxers to fight at bethnal green?
Before 1967 there was only two shows held at the York Hall, in 1934 and 1935. Spinks retired in 1962 and Walker was fighting at Empire Pool(Wembley Arena) by then.reggaereggae wrote:Curiously neither east end favourite Terry Spinks or Billy Walker ever boxed at York hall. There's a good documentary on Booth knocking about. I've got his biography and it's a really good read.reggaereggae wrote:Haye also fought Lasse Johansen for EBU title and Tony Booth for pro debut.SteveDow wrote:Haye fought Fragomeni there for the European title and Froch fight Magee there. That's good to know, I know a few good ex fighters who get a lot of happiness through coaching amateurs, its good your knowledge isn't going to waste.Londonirish wrote:palooka wrote:You were a good fighter, Martin. Are you still involved with the sport?
