Why pull out like all of the others?

Risk reward?

That's not the attitude of a real fighting man.Rexob wrote:Risk reward?

If he's too afraid to fight John McDermott then that doesn't bode well for his future.
Then why pull out?Rexob wrote:I doubt he is scared to fight anyone.
Duhauppas would be too much for Hughie.HomicideHenry wrote:Hughie needs more depthful fights. So far, so good. I think in the next three years, we'll see his name be mentioned among the top tiers internationally. For now, though, I expect more fights with solid journeymen and maybe a few faded ex-names, and the occasional prospect. Call me crazy, but I'd like to see Hughie in a match with Johahn Duaphas. Why? He's big, he's tough, he keeps coming forward, and has some good power. That's the sort of man that Hughie needs to fight and test his mettle against. That's a guy you pack your lunch and dinner for, and have to constantly be working, else you are in trouble. But, that being said Duhapas is one speed and he can be out boxed (and even out slugged). There's enough holes in his game that a guy like Hughie could take advantage of. As a fan, I'd really love to see Hughie fight the Dillian Whyte's and others on the domestic scene, but I don't see it happening. The idea with Hughie is not to become a British title holder, or European title holder, but to become a genuine contender.
Are you calling me a liar?BitPlayer wrote:Is there any evidence this fight was ever going to happen? All I got there was a dead link, I was looking up John and the most recent stuff I could see about him was a very brief thing saying he thought Tyson could beat Wlad, and something saying he favoured Tyson against Haye. Would John even want it? He's not fought for so long, and said before he has no interest in being a journeyman. Anyway the British title is now vacant so it'd make much more sense to go for that.
I don't know you, I have no reason to trust you or think you are a liar. But the link is dead, and this seems like something that'd be talked about somewhere.Horse wrote:Are you calling me a liar?BitPlayer wrote:Is there any evidence this fight was ever going to happen? How is winning the English title bad for business?Rexob wrote:Because it's a business Horse nothing to do with being scared of anyone.
Agree with James.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Pretty well rounded fighter for his age, and seems quite fluid, I'd say he's the potential to be better than his more famous relative. Depends how he develops though.
He will mostake likely have a fair few more "learning" fights before trying to do anythingWales wrote:Agree with James.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Pretty well rounded fighter for his age, and seems quite fluid, I'd say he's the potential to be better than his more famous relative. Is he that good? Only British fighter to ever win gold as a super heavyweight at world junior amateur championships. Dont think they give them away.
His biggest "problem" has been turning pro. Only so many dustmen you can beat before "fans" want to see him step up. Lewis turned pro at 24, joshua was 24, Vitali 25... Hughie turned at 18. Hed be best having 40 odd learning fights, wouldnt he?
He learns much more in the gym. It's rare that a man has top quality training camps and world class sparring from day one.Tuan_Jim wrote:Must be difficult staying sharp biffing human punchbags about. People who say there's no need to rush Hughie need to consider how this current career path will stall his development. It's rare that a man boxes this many bad fighters for this long and emerges a complete package.
