No doubt in the past and present Australia has alot to be ashamed of in regards to the treatment of the Indigenous communities. I cant claim to understand these social problems, as i would fall under what would be considered a person of white privilege, but i can sympathize.Mr. Plainview wrote:Like a Boss wrote:Have you even been to Australia and heard our national anthem played at a sporting event?Mr. Plainview wrote:Standard white folk telling minorities what is and isn't offensive.
Epitome of White privilege.
If not, take a listen, and point out the words that offend you or would offend anyone else for that matter :

I was born in Australia.
I don't understand why it's so hard for people to understand where some indigenous people are coming from. Perhaps, it'a like I said, white privilege. Mundine is a bit of a tool no doubt, but you guys all keep focusing on the lyrics of the anthem. It's not about that for some native blokes, it's about what it represents and reminds them of. You all think cause it's 2016 that everything is all hunky dory and everyone should "get over it & move on". That there is where the problems arise. You grew up facing no discrimination even close to what they have and continue to. I guarantee most of you would have a hissy fit and scream bloody murder if they did one day change the date of Australia Day too.
The negativity you see in this thread is not aimed at the Aboriginal community, but at a man who is using these social and political issues, under the thin guise of a righteous crusade, to promote himself. There are plenty of examples of this in this thread alone.
Id like to think that as a nation we are moving forward, on an issue that obviously will not be fixed over night. On a public platform, i cant think of anyone in recent times who has done more to fan the flames of segregation than Mundine. All in the name of self promotion.
Welcome to the forum by the way. We are a boxing community, ive seen my fair share of squabbles here
