Thank you for the complement x2x but no I really don't think it was anything more sinister than a sh1t overzealous and inexperienced referee. Team Joshua have always had great faith in his ability as evidenced by the speed at which his career has moved.

I honestly don't believe Eddie would have thought they needed an edge.

Of course I could be wrong.

Well, that just shows that besides being a "devious bastard" you actually have a brain, unlike Mayweather and his accomplice referee Cortez, who performed a similar service, keeping Hatton from fighting on the inside where he needed to be. Those two, cortez and mayweather, were hugging and kissing for the cameras after the fight!

I figure what happened the other night was one of the bosses dropped a casual but significant remark - they don't leave paper trails or even talk in plain english - to the italian guy in the referee costume , something like, "Hey, make sure Parker doesn't mess around too much on the inside!" And then signor ref, figuring he'd make extra brownie points with the bosses, got overzealous.
I'm not sure what your obsession with the Mayweather vs. Hatton referee. That was one of the clearest victories you will see. As much as I was a massive fan of Hatton, and wanted him to snatch victory from the cocky American as much as the next guy, but he was completely outclassed.

Puh-leez. That was the exact same piece of work as the other night. The non house fighters - Hatton and Parker - needed to fight on the inside. Bought and paid for (ka-ching!) refs won't let them, dive right in as soon as they get close.

Conspiracy nuts jump out at any given opportunity. I think it's as simple as it was a crap ref who spoilt the action... AJ was better than Parker, who is good, just not good enough to beat someone like AJ...

The ref and the way AJ boxed does nothing to boost his marketability at the end of the day. I was up the pub, people left bored. I think AJ would been much better up close than Parker anyways

I think AJ gave him way too much respect but I think there is an underlying desire on Joshua's part to become ruthlessly efficient and eliminate the risk element in his inside-the-distance, style . It's just a feeling at the moment we shall have to watch and wait.

That sounds a bit cryptic. Here's one that does anyway, even if I think that sometimes you are trying to provoke a reaction by what you say rather than necessarily believing it. Only sometimes of course.

I didn't say they were your words, mate, but somebody's words, not mine, not Oogyboogy's either.

Referee Quartarone: Look at all the fights he's refereed. Do you think he was acting like an over eager bought and paid for flunky, swan diving in headfirst every time the boxers got close together in all those fights? I don't think so. Maybe there's vids of some of them and we could see,

What r u complaining about? That's what I said, Oogyboogy the Boogy Woogy Man!

Boogy Woogy Man, Jimmy Valient:

The ex wrestler Johnny Valient was struck and killed by a pickup truck yesterday. Is that someone different? I guess so because Oogyboogy the Boogy Woogy Man is still posting here.

"In the early 1980s, Valiant returned as a babyface to NWA's Jim Crockett Promotions as "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant and called his fans "The Street People". His theme music around this time was "Boy From New York City", by The Manhattan Transfer. While in Jim Crockett Promotions, he would sometimes appear in a black bandit-style mask and call himself Charlie Brown from Outta Town. This usually occurred when Valiant was (in kayfabe) banned from wrestling. Charlie Brown was billed as someone other than Valiant, despite "Brown" having Valiant's legendarily prodigious beard."

I finally got around to watching the fight on video after reading many negative comments. I scored it 115-113 for Parker but many rounds were close. It was a case of Parker's excellent jab and defence making Joshua look terrible. The crummy novice referee didn't help. Who picked that guy?

After also watching Wilder-Ortiz I'm beginning to think Wilder could actually beat Joshua. Wilder took a real shellacking from Ortiz who is supposed to be this devastating puncher and still won when the tubby Cuban petered out.

As for Povetkin. He's had his day. When Price nearly knocked him out, only to have the referee step in, I figured Povetkin would not beat Parker, Joshua or Ortiz.
