He'd get some acclaim if he wasn't a drug cheat and bothered to get himself back in the ring.mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 Apr 2018, 05:47Yes, could do with a Martin to just come in stoned and fall over then he might get the acclaim he deserves.

Re: Tyson Fury wants to break Joe Louis’ title defence record
If Deontay Wilder can run 40-0-0, it's not impossible for a guy like Fury to rack up a considerable win streak as a belt holder. Has anyone taken a peak at the WBC top 40? Or any of the other organizations ratings? One could, in theory, cherry pick several fights and accomplish the deed.
Considering the Louis era was one of the weakest in history, one has to think in context. Could Louis have had 25-26 title defenses in any other era? Most likely not. So it'll be a tough task for Fury, because one can argue that the heavyweights today are better than most of Louis's title defenses.

This is true, but Fury's problem is that he hasn't fought in years & even if he were to return & win a trinket, modern politics dictate that he'd probably only defend it 3 times a year & that's tops.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑10 Apr 2018, 14:26 If Deontay Wilder can run 40-0-0, it's not impossible for a guy like Fury to rack up a considerable win streak as a belt holder. Depends on whether you would count the lineal title as being the Championship, even if he didn't have an actual belt. He could fight nonentities in between mandatories for the lineal championship.Syntax Error wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 15:15This is true, but Fury's problem is that he hasn't fought in years & even if he were to return & win a trinket, modern politics dictate that he'd probably only defend it 3 times a year & that's tops.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑10 Apr 2018, 14:26 If Deontay Wilder can run 40-0-0, it's not impossible for a guy like Fury to rack up a considerable win streak as a belt holder. I don’t know, we’ve seen over the last few years boxer’s fighting for titles In their very early fights. Rigo, Lomachenko. Get a medal winner through young enough and it’s possible providing they fight that many fights. Otherwise I can’t see a modern fighter be able to do it the traditional way.Syntax Error wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 15:15This is true, but Fury's problem is that he hasn't fought in years & even if he were to return & win a trinket, modern politics dictate that he'd probably only defend it 3 times a year & that's tops.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑10 Apr 2018, 14:26 If Deontay Wilder can run 40-0-0, it's not impossible for a guy like Fury to rack up a considerable win streak as a belt holder. Let me remind you for this. Louis was the UNDISPUTED HW champion for those fights. That will never happen again.Covfefe wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 21:52I don’t know, we’ve seen over the last few years boxer’s fighting for titles In their very early fights. Rigo, Lomachenko. Re: Tyson Fury wants to break Joe Louis’ title defence record
It is extremely unlikely. How many fights would you need to have just to unify, then start counting the number of defenses. I'd bet everything I had if given the proper odds.Covfefe wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 21:55Why not?oogiebe wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 21:54Let me remind you for this. Re: Tyson Fury wants to break Joe Louis’ title defence record
I get what you’re saying, it would rely on a few things. But, he could just come along and beat the undisputed champ and go on from there. It’s possible, very unlikely I admit.
Louis had the advantage of fighting in an era without this many titles and claims to the throne.
Re: Tyson Fury wants to break Joe Louis’ title defence record
OMG if we're talking FURY? It'll never happen. And I agree and wish those times of limited champs would return. UGH!Covfefe wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 21:59I get what you’re saying, it would rely on a few things. But, he could just come along and beat the undisputed champ and go on from there. Pretty sure the lineal bullshit that Tyson is clinging to doesn't have mandatory challengers. It is basically the man who beat the man who beat the man and so on.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 17:37Depends on whether you would count the lineal title as being the Championship, even if he didn't have an actual belt. Every fight Fury has he will proclaim he is the real champion (despite every single belt he held after Klitschko being stripped).
Real champions defend their belts, not snort coke from them.
Re: Tyson Fury wants to break Joe Louis’ title defence record
Maybe he should try to get one defense first? Or a belt to defend

I don't buy into the linear title in respect of Fury.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 17:37Depends on whether you would count the lineal title as being the Championship, even if he didn't have an actual belt. He has been out for far too long of his own volition to try & realistically claim he is still the so-called linear champ.
Joshua is the HW champion of the world, whilst he remains active & unbeaten.
