Saunders barely fights twice a year and is known for being hard to negotiate with and for getting "injured" and delaying the fights. Starting negotiations with him would likely mean not fighting at all before the September rematch with Canelo.

Nobody knows what exactly BJS "signed" last summer. Most likely, it was something which wouldn't satisfy Golovkin's side exact same way as Canelo signing a rematch contract and saying that Golovkin is delaying things.

You should have walked away from our discussion instead of acting like an idiot.

I listed numerous facts in my previous post and you've made no attempt to undermine them.

You should thank me for the free education.

That clears things up. People don't realise how much money sponsors put up for fights..

Tecate usually pays quite a bit in promotional rights for the Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence weekend (Sept. 16) cards.

At least in the Southern California area, you can see Tecate/boxing promotional placards and displays in most supermarkets as these holiday fight cards near.

I haven't seen anything this year. Some Tecate displays but no mention of any boxing.

The Mexican beer giant must be greatly disappointed that Canelo-Golovkin fell through, even though they will still be sponsoring the Martiroysan bout.

Interesting how at news conferences, Golovkin and Martiroysan constantly mention how they'll bring a "Mexican style" to the ring May 5.

They can't say it enough. I guess promoters and sponsors have instructed them to stress it.

Maybe if they keep repeating it, they'll convince Latino fans----who otherwise might go elsewhere for Cinco entertainment----to tune in.

That's terrific.

I have seen large Tecate promotions at that store (it appears to be Southern California's latino-oriented Vallarta Supermarket chain) in the past few weeks but no tie-in to any fight.

Maybe it was unveiled yesterday or today.

How come Martiroysan doesn't rate his own cardboard cutout?

According to the TV guide, Box-Nation is showing replays of Cotto-Kamegai and Thurman-Guerrero. Sky Sports aren't covering this event either and nor is BT.

Perhaps you're right, maybe one of the UK TV channels will make a last-minute decision to cover this event, but HBO would have to practically give the broadcast rights away in the UK, because the entire fight card is pretty poor.

The fact that this event hasn’t been picked-up in the UK yet reflects the dire quality of this fight card. And I’m not saying this for the sake of being critical either – simply making an objective evaluation of a blatantly obvious fact.

It's a shame, because GGG's team should have done a much better job of promoting this event.

Perhaps I'll be proven wrong, with the event being successful in the US, but I suspect the viewing figures for HBO will be pretty poor.

In addition to the absence of this bout being viewable via the TV guide, multiple news websites are reporting the fact that this fight isn’t being shown live in the UK.

This will likely be one of the first GGG bouts I’ve not watched live in several years.

I’m currently based in the UK at the moment, and up until recently, spent the last three years in Norway. Who knows where I'll be next year?

I'd imagine these were left over from the ones they got done of him and canelo for the promotion.

Damn!

Maybe they are asking for silly money. It might happen last minute.

Even though it's a shit fight, this could be fun to watch as GGG usually spanks people spectacularly who are below his level.

Russian matchtv (Матч ТВ) broadcasts the fight. Even though their web site blocks streaming to countries other than Russia, it is easy to find a high quality matchtv stream on TV aggregating sites.

Vanes Martirosyan to be cornered by “the worst coach in MMA”

Depending on how you view the importance of a trainer, Vanes Martirosyan’s task this Saturday (May 5) – the small matter of dethroning Gennady Golovkin – could be a whole lot tougher because of his choice of cornerman.

This is certainly the view of mixed martial arts fans who have watched Edmond Tarverdyan, Martirosyan’s trainer, coach various mixed martial artists over the years – most notably Ronda Rousey – and cruelly made the Armenian the butt of countless jokes.

To them, there is apparently no worse coach in MMA. To them, he is the man responsible for Rousey’s dramatic fall from grace and her inability to throw or avoid correct punches. To them, he is the gift that keeps on giving.

The final nail in Edmond’s coffin were the audio clips ripped from the corner the night Rousey was gobbled up by Amanda Nunes in December 2016. Chaotic and confused, these clips captured Tarverdyan in a state of panic, seemingly unable to offer his fighter anything close to advice or encouragement.

“Head movement! Head movement! Head movement!” he yelled from his position outside the UFC’s Octagon.

What followed could have been a 911 call from a woman held captive in a cellar for ten years, so palpable was the desperation.

“Hands up, hands up, hands up!” went the initial wave of panic. “Catch her! Clinch! Head movement! Move! Move! Please! Move, move, move! Clinch, clinch, clinch! Clinch, clinch, clinch, clinch! No, no, noooooooooooo!”

Alas, Rousey was dropped and defeated and Tarverdyan’s reputation, already flimsy, was left in tatters.
