It's embarrassing when he takes the mic. The Whyte v Chisora 2 fight was far worse though, he made a total tit of himself that night.

It’s this twatishness that makes me dislike him.

Anyone notice the Whyte tweet of the Verve classic. Made me smile.

AJ always struck me as an on top fighter. He always comes across likes he’s still really learning boxing - a good athlete but not a natural boxer. Good power and athleticism but always something missing. He got into this ‘boss’ mentality and became a bit obsessed with control. Ruiz jr has hands, we knew that and he showed he has balls and a decent chin.

AJ didn’t look like he liked it when the pressure was on, didn’t want to know. He’s not been boxing since he was a pup, some of these other guys have.

He’s got umpteen commercial deals, Hearn and Sky hanging onto him as he’s their saviour, the pressure is probably hard to imagine. The weight of being unbeaten and being perfect has been lifted off his shoulders so maybe he will destroy Ruiz in the rematch. However, I think he needs some wholesale changes. Part of me thinks he may ack off Hearn soon, and go to Uncle Al. Seems unfathomable but Hearn has put the pressure on without realising it, because he needed the golden goose.

I’ve never been sold on Mcracken (what improvements did Froch really make in his long career) but he is not to blame. Actually, there is likely no real blame. Ruiz Jr is a good fighter and he turned up.

AJ needs to stop being an Instagram athlete and focus all his energies on boxing not commercial deals and ‘strategic business plans’. A part of me thinks he could come back better but a part of me thinks that he’s made ridiculous wealth and he might not, deep down, have that resolve.

Lot's of good and interesting points. The coming days and weeks will be interesting. I think for AJ to be successful moving forward, a new team needs to be assembled. We'll see! :TU:

In the pre-fight Poll, nine people had Ruiz Jr as winner by TKO/KO. I was one of them :yay:

A bit of a punt but I watched a few clips of Ruiz, how he gets in close and thought that if he could get past AJ's jab he he'd be dangerous. If he moved his head a bit more, then more so.....but he didn't have to.
Accepting that AJ wasn't 'right on the night', his jab was awful, lethargic and inaccurate . Everything started from low down, was slow to return and lacked real menace.
Ruiz has/had far more tools than he's being given credit for. Throwing on the counter being key.

Regarding AJ's position now. It took him ages to announce he was going pro. The sensible boxing decision would have been to hang around for 4 years compete at Rio and get more rounds under his belt. The sensible business decision was to turn over as Olympic Gold Medallist.
He's been railroaded somewhat and needs to clear his head, make some changes and start enjoying what he does.

Said somethin similar myself earlier, dont rate rob, froch was just a warrior with a granite chin, any trainer could of held pads for him, watching what he does himself he got himself fit so McCracken didnt do nothing to improve froch and he hasnt improved AJ either

I think the fact that Mckracken is the hhead man in charge , and has allowed AJ to just develop his body into a slow cumbersome , plodding , weight lifters body , , gradually robbing himself of speed , timing , and probably power , . Well this on its own suggests he's not done a good job , and been lucky , that AJ was in a era where theres not a lot of talent has opposed to developing a great fighter .
Theres only two ways to look at it ,
1--- Mcracken has designed the programs so done a bad job
2--- Aj , has decided he wants to do it and over ruled Mcracken , which makes him a yes man who teaches him nothing
both scenarios , seem to suggest he's run his day and should be replaced with someone who will tell AJ what to do .

Has i said in a previous post , while AJ was on the rowing machine , in the altitude chamber , lifting weights , and being adviced by a team of so called specelists , all bullshitting each other for a well paid job with prestige , , checking his body fat percentage , ect ect ect .

Well while he was doing that , Ruiz , was , in a gym , practicing his footwork , hitting the bag , pads , and speed ball , sparring and redoing it all again , training to do what fighters do and thats punch and move , and move and punch , he was old school and old school works , , AJ always looked like a robot , now he's fighting like one

I think that suggests he needs another coach , he needs someone to tell him to get of the weights , start speed work , practiuce and practice and practice footwork drills , when he's finished that start practicing punching while moving forward , backward , sideward , and on angles , , make him loosen up, get out on the road and develop some lungs , and stamina , and then he could be a real champion again , .

IT never seems to amaze me , the lack of conditioning on these top heavyweights , ,

overhand_right wrote: 02 Jun 2019, 09:15 I think the difference is, while Whyte and Wladimir were able to hit him with a big shot, Ruiz was able to hit him repeatedly. Ruiz has good fundamentals, whereas Whyte was wild and unprofessional, Wlad safety first and very predictable. Ruiz was focussed, and poised to capitalise on the slightest mistake. Joshua looked wary after about a minute in the ring with him.
This is true. When Klitschko had Joshua in trouble he just kept going for the left hook, which AJ managed to avoid for the most part. For the brief spell Whyte had him in trouble, his shots were wild and inaccurate. Povetkin landed some reasonable shots but looked too wary of what might be coming back to commit too much.

This is the first time someone has come at Joshua with solid, accurate combinations and he couldn't deal with it. It was mightily impressive seeing Ruiz take a couple of shots and just come straight back with four or five of his own.

He'll need to work out how to deal with this - does he adopt the jab-and-grab Klitschko method? Can he start offering more on the back foot other than just putting his gloves up? We'll see.

Right, all of you who are NOW suggesting that Ruiz is a decent fighter, good puncher, fast hands etc nail your colours to the mast, how long will he last in the rematch, and when will he next win a fight?
Ruiz is a pretty average fat heavyweight who got lucky because something was wrong either mentally or physically with Joshua. He's not top ten quality and the immediate future will show this.
Wilder and Fury are so far in front of the rest it's embarrassing.
Does anyone think the Fury v Wilder 2 announcement 24 hours before the fight had any impact?

Yes, gone a bit off track but all good stuff.
I even thought the way Joshua was mouthing his gumshield before the fight odd.
Still maintain something was not right.
Not using that as any excuse though and the thing is with fighters you mostly never hear of any issues behind the scenes. Probably best it is that way as the proud nature of them

Your reading of this fight is absolutely terrible, good sir. Either you can see what Ruiz is doing in the ring or you can't, I suppose. But I think you're going to be bitterly disappointed if you're expecting AJ to blitz him in a rematch.

Joshua has never fought anyone like Ruiz, who can stand right in front of him and let rip with dangerous combinations. Ruiz and AJ are both 29 but Ruiz started boxing at six and Joshua at 18. Ruiz was throwing punches 12 years before Joshua even put on a pair of gloves.

Ridiculous post

Everything about Joshua screamed novice in the fight

Ruiz will beat Joshua again in the rematch, what on earth makes you think there's a time limit on how long Ruiz will last?your going on like the fight was close, like Joshua let it slip through his fingers...not that he got absolutely larruped by the better man

These denial posts about what actually happened are hilarious
