Groves vs DeGale II and III would have been fascinating.
I was thinking about that possibility the other day...
I agree that would have been an excellent rematch - I felt DeGale took it a bit too lightly and Groves fought out of his skin that night. I think if DeGale would have been 100% on it from the first bell then he would have beaten Groves (probably because he wasn't 100% focused on his training leading up to the fight, he had that air of overconfidence methinks...)
How do you think a rematch would have gone, Crease?

It is worth noting that Chris Eubank said that Herol Graham was THE BEST fighter that he ever shared the ring with. And that's including his younger days when he was sparring ranked American fighters...
He came out with a quote, something like; "You cannot beat this man because you cannot punch him. How can you fight a man like that?"

3 super middleweights who could have fought each other 2 or even 3 times.
Benn, Eubank, Watson and Collins all fought back in their era.
All started as Middleweights, all avoided Herol Graham.
A bit unfair to put Watson in as a alleged Graham ducker.
Graham was a world ranked fighter in the late 80s when Watson was still domestic/Euro level.
By the time Watson achieved world level status, Graham's stock was in decline following his splattering at the hands of Jackson, then shortly after, Watson was permanently retired for reasons we all know too well.
Yeah, definitely agree with that. But it's more than just the timing. The personality of Michael Watson - he truly would have fought anyone, including Herol. I believe that.
groves and chonky had their ups and downs, rematch would depend on when it happened. like, the groves from the wbss woulda beat the degale who was getting dominated by cej and life and death with truax, but degale who was beating dirrel etc is a totally nother story
dbf wrote: ↑20 Sep 2019, 05:14Biggest paydays must have been in WBSS - probably at least £3m he made overall in that tourney plus a mill for the degale fight?
The World Boxing Super Series is very lucrative. It has to be to attract he level of fighters that it wants... But they do get TV money coming in from all sorts of territories...
The 4 Quarter Finalists each pocket a 1 million purse (admittedly I don't know if it's sterling or US dollars), the 2 Semi Finalists get 2 million. The finalist gets 5 mill. And the winner gets 10 million.

He did indeed, mate... And the same thing happened (to a lesser extent) when he was down with Shane McGuigan... Chris Senior just cannot help himself, he has to interfere...

I think that James definitely improved after his loss to George. Those fights against Andre Dirrell and Lucian Bute really cemented his place as a World Class operator. I think around that time, he was definitely one of the best fighters at Super Middleweight.
If he carried that sort of form, focus and hunger in to the ring in a 2nd fight with Groves, then yeah- I could definitely see him winning... Maybe even getting a late stoppage. But then... Maybe I am just saying that so that it sets up the trilogy perfectly.
I think - looking at both of them at their best - there really wouldn't be too much between them... Very competitive bouts.

For me, I see Eubank Jr's career as a fairly good one. Yeah, he's a good fighter but he has never been a World Champion. I think more than anything else there has been a complete lack of direction in his career...

His inactivity is stupid given he’s had few injuries. I like the Sauerlands but it’s questionable why Eubank Jr would sign with them given they don’t have any big TV contracts or top level fighters in or around the same weight division.
He’s a good fighter with an entertaining style so I’d definitely say he’s currently wasting his career at the moment.

That strikes me as a very odd choice. I see Brook going to Light Middle, to finish off his career there - think he may only have 2 or 3 fights left in him...
Eubank Jr is at Super Middle, isn't he? Maybe if he drops to Middke, they could do it at a catchweight... But I think Eubank would be better served going after the Golovkin fight... There's a massive payday there to be had at Middle.
For Kell, I would be looking at the likes of Amir Khan... Surely it has to happen at some point...

Lack of direction is the Fathers fault - he’s cheeses everyone off that nobody will work with Jnr....Warren/Hearn/US - he’s ended up with Sauerlands for a reason.
Matchroom won’t even go near with his future brother in law involved - that says it all.

Agreed there is enough blame to go around, but certainly his father has to take his fair share.

Eubank already moved down to Middleweight. Fought once or twice..

I don't get your meaning???
Frank Smith, Eddie’s no2 is engaged to Emily Eubank.
As for dads, Kell’s has upset plenty in his time.
Wether he's wasted it i suppose depends on how much he has in the bank and how much he wants in the bank ,, IF he's got enough , he's done well with the skill set he has ,, If its not enough , he's wasted a carreer , because the potential to do more and earn more has been there
