Tucker had a great chin. Yes Tyrell Biggs made it the 7th round. Tyson stopped a lot of guys earlier than that though. Of course, there is a chance that Usyk would make it that far. The odds are he would not have.Cojimar 1946 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2024, 06:47 Tyrell Biggs made it 7 and Tucker went the full 12 but Usyk cant make it four. People must have a low view of Usyk

Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
The funny thing is that if this fight was in 1988 no one would back Usyk no one.
There is a lot of revisionism with Tyson,.
Tyson is 1988 would beat Usyk I think the trifecta was impressive

Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
I'd take Mike by KO in the 8th or so.
Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
Tyson vs Usyk is interesting because both have such different strengths. The late-80s Tyson is the toughest version for Usyk - fast head movement, quick feet, and real pressure. Usyk could outbox the 1991 and 95-96 versions over the distance, but the prime Tyson is a much harder matchup.

Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
The 3 factors why Mike Tyson lost his fights
1. The fighter wasn't afraid (Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis for example, were not afraid of him)
2. The boxers were bigger and stronger (Douglas, Holyfield and Lewis all over again)
3. The boxers got good boxing skills (there we go again with Douglas, Holy and Lewis)
That means Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and George Foreman would have beaten Tyson, too. Those 3 got the attributes to beat Tyson.

Would you include Usyk in this list?elmersalsa wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 13:26 The 3 factors why Mike Tyson lost his fights

I don't think that he would be stronger than Tyson.2128778 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 13:37Would you include Usyk in this list?elmersalsa wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 13:26 The 3 factors why Mike Tyson lost his fights

Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
Yeah that's Usyk's biggest problem here. He definitely has the skill, but the gap in strength and punching power would be pretty significant.elmersalsa wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 13:40I don't think that he would be stronger than Tyson.2128778 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 13:37Would you include Usyk in this list?elmersalsa wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 13:26 The 3 factors why Mike Tyson lost his fights

Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
People overlook the original iteration of Mike.
He would have had complete disregard for Usyk and walked straight through him.
Not even sure he'd need to duck and weave his speed, power and self belief had that much conviction.
The later iteration would have been confused to f*ck where any outcome is likely.

Usyk ko 10
Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
I kind of go with the consensus. Tyson pre-Douglas beats Usyk, maybe even the pre-Holyfield version but less likely. Tyson was shot post-Holyfield I and Usyk would box his ears off

Re: Mike Tyson vs Oleksandr Usyk
Anyone who thinks Usyk is going to stop peak Tyson really needs to adjust their meds.
He couldn't stop Joshua, Chisora, Briedis, Gassiev and Hunter. Say what you want about Tyson, but before Prison, Tyson had a great chin and was difficult to hit cleanly.
