• In 1936 Austin McCann of Lenox Hill AA won the New York Daily News Golden Gloves championship at featherweight vs. Mario Roberto of the CYA and representing New York he won the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at featherweight vs. Roy Harris. In October at New York representing the United States vs. Europe, McCann was awarded the verdict vs. Imre Harangi of Hungary at lightweight, Harangi had previously won the gold medal at the Olympics that year.
