Billy Snailham, brother of fellow early 1900s San Francisco boxer Tommy Snailham (and first cousin to boxer Joe Broadshaw [3]), was a member of the Bridge & Structural Ironworkers Organization when he wasn't boxing.

In August 1901 his 25-year-old brother, Benjamin, died. The Snailham family may have been from Wales. [4] [5]

In February 1901 Snailham won the Pacific Coast Amateur Bantamweight Championship. [6] [7]

Snailham was a protege of Alec Greggains. [8] [9] [10]

In late 1906 Snailham garnered national headlines when Johnny Crowe died from their bout together.

He later became a popular boxing referee.
