The son of former IBA, WBA NABA, WBC USNBC, NABC Americas, IBC International, WBF Americas and WBE World Cruiserweight champion and bare knuckle boxing legend Bobby Gunn. A knockout artist with both hands, renowned trainer Roger Bloodworth, who trained stars such as Tomasz Adamek, Fernando Vargas, David Tua, Eddie Hopson and Andrew Golota, said Gunn Jr. has championship level potential.

In August 2014, the 18-year-old Gunn Jr. won the WBU Youth welterweight title in his fifth professional bout. In September 2017, Gunn Jr. demolished former world title challenger Mike Miranda in less than two rounds with a vicious left hook to the body that froze Miranda's body. The victory earned him the WBC Fecarbox and WBA Fedalatin Super Middleweight titles.
