- Benn had all of his amateur bouts in Australia and won 20 out of 22 fights. [1]
- "I was 16 or 17 and I’d only been boxing for four months before my first amateur fight and then I had 12 in one year. I was fighting in bingo halls or in front of 20 people, boxing isn’t as big (in Australia) as it is over here, the ABA's are massive and you’ve got big amateur fights. It’s not like that in Sydney." - Benn failed two VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) tests in 2022: one on 25 July and another on 1 September. The substance detected was clomifene, which is a fertility drug. It’s banned because it can boost testosterone production in men.
