Professional career
- Michalczewski won the WBO light heavyweight title with a 12 round decision over Leeonzer Barber in 1994.
- Defeated reigning IBF, WBA and lineal light heavyweight champion Virgil Hill on June 13, 1997
- Won the WBO cruiserweight title in December 1994, beating Nestor Hipolito Giovannini, before returning to light heavyweight.
- Made 23 successful defenses of his light heavyweight title from 1994-2003.
- He came within one fight of tying Rocky Marciano's career record of 49-0, but lost his 49th fight to Julio Cesar Gonzalez on a split decision in October 2003.
- Michalczewski also defeated Montell Griffin, Richard Hall, Graciano Rocchigiani, and Drake Thadzi.
- In February 2005, after 14 months of inactivity, he returned to challenge Fabrice Tiozzo for the WBA light heavyweight title and lost on a sixth round TKO.
- For years a bout with Roy Jones Jr., was discussed, but never happened due to various reasons. Both parties pointed the fingers towards each other for this.
