Davey Lee Armstrong, from Puyallup, WA, began boxing in 1966, and was developed out of the Tacoma Boys Club, along with future world champions Rocky Lockridge, Johnny Bumphus, and Leo Randolph, as well as 1972 Olympic Gold Medalist Sugar Ray Seales. As a professional, he boxed out of Kronk Gym in Detroit.
Armstrong was a 2005 Inductee into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame. As of 2012 he was a bookkeeper for the City of Seattle and resided in Puyallup. Armstrong died of complications due to dementia in 2021, at age 64.
