Seamon began training boxers when he was 15 at Bill Grupp's gym in Manhattan and was fully licensed by the state in 1917, at the age of 20.
After an eight-year stint as Benny Leonard's corner man, Seamon began working for Jack Blackburn, who was training Joe Louis, and took over fulltime in 1942. Seamon's association with Louis lasted until 1951.
He ran gym in New York City during the 1920s and managed Lew Hurley, among others.
