  • Linares dropped Crolla to his knees with a left uppercut in round 7. Crolla argued with his corner after round 11 to give him 'one more round'.
  • Both fighters warned for low blows in the twelfth and final round, brief stop in the action by referee Howard John Foster.
  • With this win, Linares set up a lightweight bout with 36-0 WBC World Lightweight champion Mikey Garcia, who held Linares' ex-WBC belt.
  • In the post fight interview, Linares told the ring commentator "I'm ready to fight everybody!" and thanked Oscar De La Hoya in attendance.
  • Crolla, 30 years old, said he would rest, spend time with family, and (subsequently) build his career. "Tonight I lost to the best. No excuses."
  • Crolla contemplated moving up to super lightweight.
