Garcia gained recognition as the Lineal Light Welterweight Champion of the World courtesy of his victory over Sergey Lipinets when they were regarded by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board (TBRB) and the Cyber Boxing Zone (CBZ) as the two best 140 pound fighters in the world.
Garcia made no defenses of his championship. The championship was declared open on March 3, 2020 when Garcia made his clear intention to campaign as a welterweight. The vacant Lineal title was won by Josh Taylor on May 22, 2021 when he outpointed Jose Carlos Ramirez in a title unification bout.
