- Shortly after winning the European lightweight title from Borge Krogh in mid-'67, Carrasco was seriously injured when he got his right arm caught in a hotel elevator squashing it. Several blood transfusions were required to save his life and it was doubtful at the time whether he would ever box again. However, he was back in the ring by the end of the year.
