Vincent Breen won the 1955 126lb Sub-Novice Championship and the 1956 126lb Open Championship. Breen defeated Thomas Nethercott of the White Plains YMCA in the finals to win the 1956 126lb Open title. Breen trained at the Police Athletic League.
Also in 1956 he won the New York Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at featherweight and representing New York he won the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at featherweight vs. Kenneth Morris.
