Brother of Hugh Ross, Wirt (One Shot) Ross was a Kentucky-born, Los Angeles-based, boxing manager whose best-known clients were Henry Armstrong and late 1940s/early '50s heavyweight contender Freddie Beshore. Ross was known to tell tall stories about his youth in Kentucky, and his prowess at stud poker.
