Re: Showtime is closing, what now for boxing?
Boxing is incredibly inexpensive for networks to showcase. This compared to football, hockey, baseball, er Al. Basically you need a ring. The st’s it. I imagine nothing will change. But…who knows. I imagine it depends on current revenue for Showtime in covering boxing. If it’s making money, they wil...

Re: P4P Heavyweights
Thanks for everyone’s responses. It appears the overidding sentiment is “YES” HW’s should be included.
I do find it interesting that Usyk—as an example—is ranked over Fury, but those same experts know damn well Fury would beat Usyk.

P4P Heavyweights
Okay, I will throw this out there then run for cover. 1. Should HW’s be considered in P4P rankings? 2. My personal opinion is yes. I guess it all depends how one looks at the concept 3. As an example, I feel Nas is perhaps one of the biggest puncher (FOR HIS WEIGHT CLASS) in history. Although...

Re: Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde | ESPN - January 28, 2023
Man, my only concern is AB’s defense, which has waned the past few years. He opens himself up with one of his signature punches (lead right downstairs). Two forward fighters I think it will come down to who makes the other fight off back foot, which neither excel at IMO. INITIALLY I thought AB would...

Re: Filip Hrgovic vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - IBF Ordered
Zhang is a front runner. Not a Briggs style, but his age is just that. Would love to see Zhang and Ortiz knuckle up. Someone going to sleep 😴 before 4 rounds (and imagine it would be Zhang). Still interesting fight IMHO. The HW division is ripe at the moment. We all know that division drives the bus...

Re: Filip Hrgovic vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - IBF Ordered
I doubt it will happen. Haymon will find a way to put him with Wilder, who seems to have this pie in the sky dreams he can get Usyk next. Ironically I envision a fourth fight with Fury if you look at the roadmap between TR and PBC. Wilder (and Usyk to a degree) seen to be the only ones with balls to...

British fans, for those who woof all this rah-rah sh*t about how, 'Oh we're British and we go hard for ours in boxing.....we even sing a goofy song. Why? I dunno...it's what everyone else does'....I'll let your leader tell you himself how we do it here in Dallas/Fort Worth. PEACE! https://youtu.be/E...

It's Ali for Me
So for all you young cats coming up as fans, here is one more 'old head' who is coming correct when it comes too the Greatest of all time. My dad worked at the 5th street gym. I first saw Ali fight (live) against Spinks I. I was young but clearly remember Spinks' team going nuts they were so happy.....

Jon Fernadez
I've watched him at Foxwoods and Buffalo Run that past year. I can't speak much on Spanish fighters, but I just watched his last fight over in that Spain (via YT). He grabbed what I believe to be his first of many belts to come. I believe he's signed with DiBella ENT, so hopefully we get to see him ...

Re: Has Anyone Seen a Fight at Madison Square Garden? Advice Needed
Totally agree with the others. Ive seen about 10 fights there but not one in probably 20 years. I've sat ringside as well as "obstructed view" as well as as far back as you can get there. If you are more intent on really watching the fight vs 'being there' with nosebleeds...stay at home Go...

Re: Clowns...Yes..you and you and you....
The best Heavyweights from a technical standpoint were... Tunney... Holmes... Johnson... Vitali Klitschko... Ibeabuchi in his last fight... Lewis was very good in the Rahman rematch and hardly made a mistake... Haye is very crafty... and Ortiz is real good as well. I'll throw one out there, a YOUNG...

Re: Clowns...Yes..you and you and you....
I agree. I often have a hard time finding people to discuss boxing. I have LIVED this over 40 years...spending 20 of those years mach-making at the WORLD CLASS level. I worked with Stevie Cruz, Leonard, Curry, Roy, Paz, Ayalua, Tua, Dorsey, Norris, Mayorga, etc etc. In fact, I helped bring Nigel Ben...

Jarrett Hurd is down and so it's Going Down!
I started following this kid after he beat Chris Chatman back in the day (this is going back almost five years). I'm always a fan of rangy guys who can throw inside as well, so his style is what made me follow him. He stayed busy, slowed down, then...started takings HEADS  B-side after B-side, ...

Re: Is Manny Pacquiao the best boxer ever?
Wow. I would not even put him in my top 50 fighters of all time. Please don't make me come out with a list now, because I will. Not hating, but I really wonder about some of the knowledge when I read questions like this. Oh, and for Floyd...let's keep this real people. The line forms to the left for...

Re: was this the most boring year in boxing history?
Interesting as I have the opposite view. The "rise of manny' was when I felt boxing was at it's lowest point here in the US. Remember though, I come from the Ali v Frazier/Shavers/Foreman/Spinks era on through the murderers row era so it was crackin', I'll go as far as saying after Pretty Boy f...

What did you consider one of the best years..just curious. It's obviously objective in nature just curious as we have such extreme differening opinions.

Re: was this the most boring year in boxing history?
For as long as I have been following the sport (about 15 years) it was. I've been following it over 40 years and it's not even close to the worst yet. Do I have you this year was essentially setting the table. Many things got worked out for better or worse and I think there's a clear picture of wha...

Re: SPENCE WANTS THURMAN!! Wouldn't mind GGG or Canelo fight either!!
I was at the fight today. After his match, Spence said something (it was loud so could not hear him) but I heard him mention Porter's name. After the fight I talked with Spence and asked him who he was "calioing out" he smiled and said "everybody, man" . Most likely his first big...
