Lemieux spent most of the twelve round fight trying to land a massive punch with the Canadian known for being a heavy hitter. But Saunders was excellent on the back foot and timed his footwork to perfection to make Lemieux continually miss.
Saunders threw in a Muhammad Ali shuffle as early as the second round and managed to land a hurtful left hand just before the bell which seemed to stun Lemieux.
One such moment was when Lemieux wound up a massive right, only to miss by a mile and punch into air. Saunders delighted in Lemieux’s misfire and peered into the crowd to see where the punch might have landed.
The Canadian crowd were not impressed with Saunders showboating and booed him throughout the contest, while watching Lemieux take a schooling.
