Harry Gilmore was an outstanding lightweight during his day. In 1887, Gilmore opened a boxing academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. He later ran a boxing school in Chicago and tutored many famous boxers--including Jimmy Barry, Tommy White, Billy Stift, and Frank Garrard.
