- 1955 Nick Spanakos won the sub-novice New York Daily News Golden Gloves at bantamweight vs. John Simms, being reported originally from the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY, he trained at the Police Athletic League's Miccio Center.
- 1960 fighting out of Hollywood, California, Nick Spanakos won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at featherweight vs. Tom O'Shea by decision.
