Mike Marchionte is a matchmaker who went to work in professional boxing in 1992 by taking on the management duties of Brian Barbosa. In 1994, Mike opened the Phantom Boxing Club in Providence, RI., and during the mid to late 1990s he worked on an assignment basis for Cedric Kushner Promotions of New York, NY.
In 2001, Mike was hired as head matchmaker at DiBella Entertainment by former senior vice president of programming at HBO Sports Lou DiBella.
At DiBella Entertainment, Mike collaborated with legendary matchmaker Johnny Bos, as both were responsible for the early development of Paul Malignaggi. It was also where he met the influential boxing advisor Al Haymon; Alan Haymon Development later becoming one of many clients. Other notable clients include Golden Boy Promotions, Don Chargin , Frank Warren, and Mogens Palle.
In 2006, Mike was hired by Mark Burnett Productions and DreamWorks Studios as a matchmaker and consultant for the boxing reality TV series "The Contender" where he worked closely with executive producer Jeff Wald.
In 2012, he was hired by DirecTV as the exclusive matchmaker and as a consultant for BKB Global or Big Knockout Boxing, where Mike appeared in BKB Unfiltered, a 2014 documentary that aired on the Audience Network.
In 2018, Mike was hired by MGM Television as a matchmaker and as a consultant for the re-launch of the boxing reality series "The Contender".
