In 1947 Richard Hagan of Chicago,IL won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions vs. Ralph Younger of Oklahoma City, OK (some sources Tulsa) by tko in the 2nd at heavyweight, Younger took four nine counts before the fight was stopped. Representing Chicago he won the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at heavyweight vs. Joe Lindsay. On May 28, 1947, representing the US, he won a title at the US Golden Gloves vs. Europe by ko in the 2nd round vs. Gearoid O'Colmain of Ireland at heavyweight.
